Report TV has learned that so far 4 candidacies have been submitted, including Genta Bungo, who served as the Chairperson of the "vetting" committee, the KPK.
Lawyer Saimir Vishaj has also entered the race, but as it is learned, his application file initially has deficiencies in the documentation.
Shkëlqim Sulo, a lawyer who once represented the PDIU in the CEC, is also seeking to become the People's Advocate. Ismail Tafani, a law professor, has also entered the race.
Other names will be awaited for another week, and then their platforms will be heard before the Laws Committee.
The Democratic Party led by Sali Berisha has insisted that Besim Ndregjoni, who heads one of the associations of former political prisoners, be elected as the Ombudsman. It is not known whether the Democrats will stick to this position until the end or whether there will be another name.
The Ombudsman requires 84 votes. Traditionally, this position has been entrusted to the opposition, but political disagreements have caused the election of the new Ombudsman to drag on for over 3 years.
