Meeting with technology experts, Rama: You can take revenge, harm us with cyber

Prime Minister Edi Rama has extended a hand of cooperation to the technological community to address what he considered to be the problems of the 'new world'.

During a meeting with representatives of start-ups, Rama emphasized that we must manage to build a bridge of communication with your community and try to learn and understand as much as possible about the life and challenges of your community.

"I am convinced that if we create a synergy by trying to make the means we have available, we can definitely create even more space, dough to bake in this new oven. So what I have asked the Minister of Entrepreneurship is that by inviting a number of you, and including a number of us, to have a day like this, and to address in the most exhaustive way possible, the problems of this new world that has been created in our country, talking about human capital, and the adaptation of skills, about digital transformation and e-government, about all sectoral segments and competitive positioning, sectoral financing, about international integration, access to markets and readiness for export and to understand how to raise this interaction to a level of constant communication, when neither coincidence nor a meeting point in time is left. The opportunity to express concerns, ideas and proposals for cooperation. We have begun to understand how we can become direct partners with you", emphasized Rama.

Rama said that Albania is independent in the digital services sector, but stressed that there are gaps in this sector. And according to the Prime Minister, the gaps are especially in the private sector, which has not yet understood the risk of exposure to cyber attacks.

"I am aware of how many gaps we have, especially in the private sector where there is a huge lack of information and awareness of what can come from exposure to cyber attacks. We are strengthening our defenses in the public sector, we are concerned that the evidence sector is not moving at the same pace. We can be an offer for the evidence sector considering the talents you have managed to gather," said Rama.

But the Prime Minister did not spare the jokes, as he told those present that they could retaliate against the government by cyberattacking it if they did not like something.

"Here we have invited you to speak to us very openly, you also have the freedom to say what you want and think that you have no dependence on us. And you also have the tools that can harm us if you want to take revenge for any inappropriate communication on our part. To harm us without realizing that you are harming us and enjoy it with the talents you have by seeing how you block us", said Rama.

He proposed establishing a Council or Forum where they would meet 3 times a year to discuss.

"It is worth having a Council, a forum, where we gather at least 3 times a year to discuss issues and news, whether for better or worse, of the previous four months, of course if you agree," said Rama.
