The leader of the Albania Initiative coalition, Adriatik Lapaj, seems not to give up the 'fight' to obtain the mandate of deputy, within the time limits, while the chief commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi is expected to make the distribution tomorrow.
Through a second letter, Lapaj reminds the CEC that the 12 candidates on the closed list of Tirana have submitted their resignations from the candidacy, dated May 11, 2025, before the start of the vote counting process. Lapaj says that as long as the CEC has not made a decision, the resignations are considered tacitly approved and requests written confirmation.
Lapaj's letter is dated today, July 21, and is addressed to the head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, to recognize the silence as an approval for the resignations of the candidates on the closed list of the NSHB.
"The "Albania Becomes" Initiative with Decision No. 237, dated 04.03.2025, has been registered with the CEC as a coalition for the parliamentary elections of 11 May 2025, with Mr. Adriatik Lapaj as the leader of the coalition.
In the Tirana District, this coalition has secured 16,520 votes, winning one mandate of representation. We would like to inform you that all candidates on the closed list for this district have submitted their resignation from candidacy, on 11 May 2025, before the start of the vote counting process.
Based on Article 97 of the Code of Administrative Procedures, as long as the public body, in this case the Central Election Commission, has not expressed a decision, they are considered tacitly approved.
In this context, we request written confirmation that the submitted resignations have been considered tacitly approved, in accordance with the law in force. Thanking you for your cooperation," Lapaj's request to the CEC states.
The Albania Initiative Coalition is going through a deep political crisis due to the mandate it won, which has put its leaders in trouble.
The reason is the request that closed list candidate Zeqir Kordhoni made to the CEC, stating that he did not remember signing the resignation request submitted on May 11, before the start of the counting process.
Kordhoni, who turns out to be the uncle of the other coalition leader, Endri Shabani, seems to be upset with Lapaj for his behavior. The latter has started a heated debate with Shabani, which has also included accusations of threats against the leader of the Nisma Thurje through messages and phone calls.
The CEC will have the final say at its meeting on the allocation of mandates for Tirana.
