Career diplomat Yuri Kim, former US ambassador to Tirana, has posted a photo online with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Kim and Rubio shake hands, while in the comment accompanying the photo posted on Instagram, the former ambassador writes "how good it was that Secretary Rubio was in the State Department cafe at the same time as us, on the third day of work."
Kim's message is similar to those often given by Albanian politicians, who post photos whenever they have meetings and are interpreted in Tirana as support or backing they have. This is especially the case with meetings with American officials.
And it seems that the former ambassador who served for 4 years in Albania has chosen this way to respond to the accusations that have been directed at her from Tirana, especially from Democratic leader Sali Berisha and supporters of his line.

The photo posted by Kim on the social network also appears to be a response to the strong attacks that have intensified in recent days, especially after the inauguration of President Donald Trump and the appointment of Marco Rubio as Secretary of State.
Yuri Kim's name has recently been floated in the American media as the next US ambassador to the Philippines, although nothing is officially known.
Kim was appointed as ambassador to Albania by President Trump's first administration, and she was a close associate of Antony Blinken, who led the State Department during President Joe Biden's 4 years.
Yuri Kim has recently joined the State Department and it is not known whether she will continue her diplomatic career in the State Department offices or be named ambassador.
Kim was involved in an almost open conflict with Sali Berisha at the time of the clashes between the latter and Lulzim Basha, while the expression that the American diplomat used from the steps of the DP headquarters when she told the Democrats that they would eat grass if they went after a 'non grata', referring to the former Prime Minister, remains epic.
From this moment on, Kim was declared an enemy of the group that supported Sali Berisha and continues to remain so, with her name occasionally being put at the center of accusations.
With the change of administration in the US, the Democrats led by Berisha hope that the decision taken by the Biden administration that declared him 'non grata' will be reversed, thus removing the democratic leader from the US blacklist. Berisha and his family were sanctioned by the US 3 weeks after the 2021 parliamentary elections, while the decision was considered to be lobbied by Edi Rama, using his connections with George Soros and McGonigal, the former official of the FBI office for New York.
