Bujar Leskaj and Sali Berisha

The political leader of the Vlora district, MP Bujar Leskaj, has come out against the proposal made by the leader of the DP, Sali Berisha, for branch heads, who, if they want to compete in the Primary Election, will have to resign from the leadership of the DP branches.

In a reaction on Facebook, Leskaj emphasizes that the branch chairmen and secretaries are individuals, who are the only institutions within the Democratic Party to emerge from the democrats' vote with the principle of "one member, one vote".

He adds that political leaders should be those who submit to primaries or otherwise be on the open list.

Leskaj's full post:

The role of the institution of Branch Chairmen has been vital in all the developments that the Democratic Party has had in recent years, especially in the years of Re-establishment, for maintaining its spirit at the grassroots level, maintaining connections not only with the membership and grassroots of the Democratic Party, but also for ensuring the smooth running of all forms of organization of its political activity.

The Democratic Party leadership should not forget that the branch leaders were among the first to approach the re-establishment process and remained consistent throughout these years.

The heads of the branches of the Democratic Party, together with the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha, are the only institutions within the Democratic Party to emerge from the vote of the Democrats with the principle of "one member, one vote", as is the Secretary General, Mr. Flamur Noka, voted (by secret ballot and competition) by the National Council.

I recall that in the Vlora District, we also have Branch Presidents who have been elected twice, in the span of three years, in the DP Branches of Selenica and Saranda.

In my view, the heads of the Democratic Party branches do not have to resign from the position, which they won and held with the vote of the Democratic Party membership, as a vote of confidence and a genuine primary process.

Any change to this principle would constitute a violation of the democratic spirit that the Democratic Party represents.

Branch chairmen and secretaries are individuals who have carried out party activities in the branches of their cities, being the highest political valence of the spirit of the Democratic Party in the respective cities.

The primaries must first begin with a vote of confidence in the political leaders in the regions, or else any political leader who does not submit to the primaries will be placed on the open list.

In my judgment, the heads and secretaries of the Branches, whether or not they are aspirants for future deputies, should be qualified as trusted voters, to be nominated in the selection of candidates, in the construction of the final list.

The final list must/will of course be decided by the chairman of the Democratic Party and each candidate must accept in advance an ethical-political code in unconditional respect for any position resulting from this decision.

Today, the Democratic Party needs to synergize its structures, starting from its chairman, Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha, the party leadership, the political leaders of the regions, the heads of branches, their presidencies, every chair and secretary of the group, section and section, the members and the undivided democrats, as a strategy for victory that functions in harmony.

If one of these links breaks, it causes confusion, weakness, destabilization, and any distraction from these priorities and any mistake in the primaries would be greatly desired by/for our political opponents, who would benefit from deepening their diversion against the Democratic Party.

No mistake is forgiven today!
