Repeating the elections for the mayor of Kukës will cost the state budget over 25 million ALL.
This figure was made public by the head of CEC Ilirian Celibashi in a press conference.
The head of the CEC stated that no additional money was requested in the CEC budget, as according to him "there are savings that enable the development of the judicial process without additional costs for the state budget".
"These elections will cost the state budget 25,457,496 ALL, it is not the additional money requested in the budget of the CEC, but in a management and reorganization of the budget that we have done, we found it necessary that no additional budget was needed after the elections On May 14, it results that there are savings that enable the development of the judicial process without additional costs for the state budget", said Celibashi.
The voting process of the partial elections in Kukës will be held in 74 polling stations, where one of them is in the detention facility in Kukës Municipality.
"There are 74 voting centers in which the voting process will take place. Out of 74, one voting center is in the Kukës district detention facility, located in the Kukës Municipality," he said.
Celibashi also showed why electronic voting will not be implemented, although the elections are taking place in only one district.
"First of all, the time was not suitable to prepare the process, from the point of view of reasoning, I think we have experimented enough so far in some way in relation to electronic voting, and at this moment the expansion would not make much sense, since beyond the fact that we didn't have time, it wouldn't provide any advantage. Not being very sure how much will there is from the parties and what the financial possibilities are, it wouldn't be logical to extend it to a unit where then it wouldn't be developed in the other elections", said Celibashi.
