The deputy of the Democratic Party, Dashnor Sula, has reacted to the relocation of the traders' market in Belgium.
Sula points out that she has been following the concerns of traders in Belgium for 3 weeks.
The democratic deputy does not spare the accusations against the Mayor of the area, who decided to relocate this market.
" The displacement of the market from Belsh, the result of lobbying by the oligarchs of Tirana! For three weeks now, I have been closely following the concerns of merchants in Belsh. For decades, in Belsh, as in many places in Albania, the bazaar is organized once a week. Initially, this was done in the road by the lake and for many years now it has been at the exit of Belshi in the direction of the village of Rrasë. Every Saturday in this area there were merchants who came from the whole district and the villages of Elbasan to trade, clothes, household furniture, fruits, vegetables, live animals, etc. All of them are divided into different sectors. Meanwhile, the customers who bought in this market are not only the residents of Belsh, but also the surrounding villages, with a decision that was not made with anyone, not even with the residents. not even with the merchants, the mayor has decided to transfer the market to another location , "said Sula.
Sula emphasizes that the new place where the market will be located is far from the center and public transport stations, while adding that the location is against everyone.
" The new place is about 4 kilometers from Belshi, in the middle of nowhere. Far from the center of Belsh and far from public transport stations. The new location is out of favor with all but a few. After I inquired with the residents of the area and the merchants, they tell me that they suspect that the lobbying for the relocation of the market was done for interests coming from Tirana. In the last year, several supermarkets that come from Tirana have opened in Belsh, as well as subsidiaries of household appliances that also come as well-known brands from Tirana. And according to the testimonies from merchants and residents of the area, the only ones who benefit from the relocation of the market are only them ," Sula emphasized.
Sula further calls on the Mayor of Belsh to suspend the decision and consult with the citizens.
" Under these conditions, the mayor of Belsh should suspend the decision and before taking such a step, consult with the citizens, interest groups and then make a decision. The mayor was elected by the residents of the area and not by the businessmen of Tirana, so the decisions should serve the citizens there and not dubious interests ", says Sula.
