The possibility of Kosovo joining the Council of Europe has terrified the government in Belgrade.
President Aleksandër Vucic, who has created a team that will fight the initiative, stated that efforts were made on Friday to resolve everything about Kosovo's membership before the meeting of the Assembly of the Council of Europe, where it will be voted on the matter.
But according to the Serbian leader, the efforts were stopped thanks to the intervention of the two countries.
"They tried before the decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to finish everything, and thanks to the intervention of two states, this did not happen," said Vucic.
He did not provide details about the efforts nor did he indicate which countries "prevented it". Serbia's number one confirmed that he will travel to Paris, where he will meet with the French president, Emmanuel Macron.
The head of the Élysée has given a clear message to his Serbian counterpart, before hosting him in Paris on Monday.
"Emmanuel Macron will affirm, on this occasion, his connection and full support for the European integration of Serbia and that the normalization of relations with Kosovo is an integral part of the EU membership process," says a statement issued by the presidential palace french.
