The brother of the former president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, has reacted after the withdrawal from the defense of Thaçi's lawyers in The Hague, due to non-payment.
In a statement to the Kosovar media, the brother of the former president, Idriz Thaçi, explained that the contract with the legal company "Greenberg Legal Associates" was not extended in 2024 due to financial difficulties in covering the cost of all the lawyers engaged as part of Thaci's defense.
He stated that the main lawyer of former president Thaçi will be the lawyer, Luka Misetic, who will be in full coordination with the other assistant lawyers.
"Unable to cover the cost for all the lawyers engaged until the end of last year, due to financial difficulties we were forced to reduce the team and now the main lawyer of Mr. Thaçi is Mr. Luka Misetic, who will be in full coordination with the other assistant lawyers. Mr. Kehoe has been informed of the difficulties in covering the cost of his team's services and the non-renewal of the contract in 2024. We thank Mr. Kehoe and his team for the commitment so far and for the good work they have done in the defense of Mr. Thaçi," he said.
Idriz Thaçi has stated that the current team will continue with full dedication the legal defense and at the end of this process the purity and truth of the KLA's struggle will be proven.

We remind you that earlier the Minister of Justice in Kosovo also ruled on this event, who informed that payments are made only to lawyers with whom there is an agreement, and from Thaçi's defense team, it was only Luka Misetic who was paid by Kosovo.
