Bedri Hamza has been elected the new leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo.
Hamza did not receive a single vote against, in a convention where he was the only candidate after the resignation of Memli Krasniqi.
His election was met with opposition from figures within the party, including Enver Hoxhaj, who called for the postponement of the Convention and more space for internal competition.
However, the PDK decided to continue the process, keeping Hamza as the sole candidate, as he met the statutory requirements.
Hamza, who has experience as a finance minister and mayor, aims to restore PDK as the main force in the country, especially in the face of Albin Kurti.
Kosovo is expected to go to parliamentary elections soon, and Hamza is seen as the man who must revitalize PDK's structures to increase its political influence.
" Kosovo deserves good governance, stable institutions, independent justice and investments in security. These are obligations for us. And today, in addition to a candidacy, you vote for a governing vision. Today you vote more than for a president, you vote for a government of labor. Today you vote for an economy that develops local production, increases salaries, pensions and creates full partnership with businesses.... A new chapter of PDK is emerging, of unification, openness and internal unity. PDK is ready, Kosovo is ready and we have the trust of the people ," he declared.
