Pristina-Belgrade talks in Brussels, Bislimi: We reached an agreement with
Kosovo's Chief Negotiator, Besnik Bislimi

Kosovo's chief negotiator, Besnik Bislimi, announced on Thursday evening that an agreement was reached with Serbia in Brussels on the functioning of the joint commission for the implementation of the agreement on missing persons.

After the conclusion of the meetings held today, Bislimi announced that the main goal of the talks was to reach an agreement on the establishment of a joint commission, which will deal with the implementation of the agreement reached earlier between the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.

" The goal was to reach an agreement to operationalize the joint commission for the implementation or enforcement of the agreement on missing persons between Prime Minister Kurti and President Vučić. The meetings were successful and we finally managed to finally implement this objective. Now all that remains is for our deputies to meet in the coming weeks and determine the first priorities for the work of the joint commission," said Bislimi.

He also announced that today's meetings were mainly bilateral with the European Union envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Peter Sorensen. Bislimi added that other elements of the dialogue were also briefly touched upon, for which, according to him, there is expected to be movement after the formation of the new Government.

On the other hand, the director of the Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic, has stated that after today's meeting he expects the process to find all missing persons to be accelerated.

Prime Minister Kurti and President Vučić agreed in 2023 on the Joint Declaration on Missing Persons, and the parties subsequently agreed on its full implementation. However, according to previous plans, Serbia had not agreed to participate in meetings to implement this agreement.

Today's meeting was the first in the dialogue for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia this year. EU mediator Peter Sorensen had stated during his visits to Kosovo and Serbia in mid-January that he expects the dialogue this year to achieve what it did not achieve in 2025. Kosovo and Serbia have not held high-level meetings since 2023.
