The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has spoken after the failure of the tripartite meeting in Brussels.
Kurti said that this meeting did not take place because, according to him, he only asked for three guarantees, but they were not implemented. Kurti stated that he requested the implementation of the basic agreement, the surrender of Radoicic and the withdrawal of Brnabic's letter.
He stated that the government of Kosovo has requested the implementation of the Basic Agreement, which was agreed on February 27 of last year and was further followed by the implementation annex, which is an integral part from March 18, 2023.
"We consider that the basic agreement and the implementation annex are a distinguished achievement in the foreign policy of the Republic of Kosovo, for good neighborly relations, with our northern neighbor, with at least de facto recognition in the center, but it is also an achievement of The European Union, which has mediated entire rounds of this dialogue.
The last time we had a meeting was on September 14, a day before the terrorist attack. A lot has happened since then, Banjska happened, the letter of withdrawal of the basic agreement also happened. As Borrell himself said, I have asked for guarantees of good faith and good will that enable the implementation of the agreement, and these come through the three guarantees that I have highlighted.
The first is the signing of the basic agreement, the second is the withdrawal of Brnabić's letter because it says that Kosovo's independence, the UN seat and territorial integrity are not accepted, and the third guarantee I asked for is the handover of the master criminal Milan Radoicić to the Kosovo authorities. . We cannot resurrect the murdered sergeant Afrim Bunjak, but Serbia must hand over Milan Radoiciq to us ," Kurti said.
Meanwhile, Borrell, after the meetings he had with Kurti and Vucic, said that Serbia was not fully ready to accept the conditions that Kurti had set.
"First, the formalization of the Basic Agreement through signature by the respective heads of state. The second, the withdrawal of the official letter submitted to the EU by the former Serbian prime minister, Ana Bërnabiç, on December 13, 2023. And the third, the handover of Millan Radoicic and his paramilitary terrorist group to the Kosovo judicial authorities," said Borrell during a press conference.
Borrell further added that Serbia was not ready to fully accept the conditions imposed by Kurti. According to what Borrell said, Vucic was willing to discuss Kurt's first two conditions, but not the one of Radoicic's surrender!
"President Vucic hinted that he is ready to explore possibilities regarding the former prime minister's letter and the formalization of the Agreement, in line with past dialogue practices, in order to unlock the implementation of the agreement ," he said.
Earlier, Vucic also told the media in Brussels that during the round of high-level dialogue, he did not have a meeting with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.
"There was no meeting with Kurti because Kurti did not want or dare, ask him, to meet me and talk. I believe you will learn more about this from the Europeans," said Vucic during a statement to the media.
