Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has stated that Serbia today understands better than ever that Kosovo is a state, even though it continues to refuse recognition.
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Kurti said that Russia threatens the region through Serbia.
" Out of four neighbors, three recognize us. Only Serbia does not recognize us and is unlikely to do so soon. Although I think they understand better than ever that we are a state. The reality has changed a lot. But what needs to happen is that their dream of return is extinguished. Likewise for the Russian Empire or what is now the Russian Federation. The Russian Empire does not want neighbors, but this is impossible ," he said in a conversation with former British diplomat and politician Rory Stewart.
When talking about northern Kosovo, Kurti added that 5-10 years ago there was no freedom to move around or speak Albanian freely.
Kurti has stated that this is why more solidarity is needed within the European continent and NATO itself. According to him, Russia wants to destroy both, and China wants to reach the power of the US.
"Anyone who helps our neighbor in their efforts to destabilize causes problems for us as well. Our threat in this regard is Russia," Kurti said.
Speaking about geopolitical changes, he added that there are turbulences that are unpredictable. Kurti added that there should be increased cooperation within NATO, but also regional alliances.
