Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić does not give up on his biggest nightmare, Kosovo. Even from Odessa, where the Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit is being held, he did not miss the opportunity to provoke, diverting attention from Russian aggression and international solidarity, in a shallow attempt to win politically with the absence of Pristina's representatives.
Enthusiastic in statements to Serbian media, Vučić called the fact that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had not invited representatives from Kosovo to the summit a “great gesture.” “ I thanked him for respecting the UN Charter and the territorial integrity of Serbia ,” he said, attempting to sell Kosovo’s absence as a diplomatic victory for Belgrade.
In fact, Vučić's statements confirm that Kosovo is and remains an integral part of official Belgrade, which he tries to use for internal consumption whenever he is on the international stage. Talking about territorial integrity at a summit discussing the defense of Ukraine from Putin's aggression, while you yourself have refused to recognize the neighboring state and are fueling instability in the Balkans, is a classic form of hypocrisy in Vučić's politics.
