Political crisis in Kosovo, Parliament convenes again tomorrow

The continuation of the constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly is scheduled to be held tomorrow (Thursday) at 12:00.

The announcement was made by the press office of the Kosovo Assembly and comes after President Vjosa Osmani's ultimatum that the session must be held within 48 hours.

"…The functionalization of institutions that emerged from the will of citizens is a constitutional obligation of every institution and every person vested with public authority. In this specific case, this is your obligation as the chair of the constitutive session as well as of all deputies elected in the Ninth Legislature of the Assembly. Consequently, I also remind you that the spirit of the Constitution, the judicial practice of the Constitutional Court and the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly of Kosovo, oblige you to continue the constitutive session no later than within forty-eight hours of its interruption," Osman's response to the chair of the constitutive session, Avni Dehari, states.

Dehari had addressed Osman on Wednesday with a request to clarify how to proceed after the adjournment of the constitutive session on Tuesday.

A day earlier (Tuesday), the Parliament failed to verify the mandates of the MPs who emerged from the February 9 elections. The opposition so far said it voted against on the pretext that the prime minister and ministers want to take up the post of MP "without resigning yet."
