A heavy traffic situation was recorded this Monday on the Bardhoc-Vermicë axis of the Morinë-Kukës road, where dozens of trucks heading from Albania to Kosovo have created kilometer-long queues. The trucks, which are waiting to enter Kosovo territory through the Vermicë customs point, are parked in two rows along the road.
The delay was caused by the measure of the Ministry of Environment and Transport of Kosovo, which during the last 15 days of July banned the circulation of heavy tonnage vehicles on highways and regional roads from 11:00 to 17:00, due to extreme temperatures. Although the restriction ended at the scheduled time, the wait continued due to the inability of customs authorities to cope with the high flow of vehicles.
The line of trucks started from the village of Bardhoc and extended to the Vermica border crossing. Today was the last day of this measure, which had come into effect to protect road infrastructure and traffic safety during days with temperatures above 35°C.
