The Kosovo Assembly convened again tonight at 10:00 PM for the 54th attempt at constitution. This comes at a time when the Constitutional Court, through a temporary measure, has prohibited the deputies from making any decisions and actions after the 30-day deadline for the constitution of the Assembly, set out in the June 26 judgment, has passed.
The situation remains unclear, pessimism is circulating everywhere in front of the Kosovo Assembly building. Despite the fact that the acting Minister of Interior, Xhelal Sveçla, answered "yes" when asked whether the Assembly will be constituted in tonight's session, the reality looks different.
VV MP Arbër Rexhaj said that this delay in the constitution of the Assembly is unfair to the citizens. He blamed the opposition parties, saying that their idea was to block the process from the beginning.
"We came here to vote and exercise our duty responsibly as deputies, now if you ask me if there is anything new, we are in a parliamentary group meeting and we will discuss it, I am talking about my duties as a deputy, I think that this prolongation that has been made is unfair to the citizens. Basically, from the beginning there has been the idea of the opposition to block the Assembly, keep in mind when they have refused to vote for their own mandates," he said .
On the other hand, the chairman of the Social Democratic Initiative, Fatmir Limaj, said that no other result is expected in tonight's session, as there is no agreement between him and the leader of the LVV, Albin Kurti.
"Unfortunately, there is no agreement ," Limaj said, adding that now we must await the decision of the Constitutional Court.
As for the meeting with President Vjosa Osmani after the 53rd attempt, he said that nothing happened.
"We had a meeting with the president and simply exchanged opinions after the session. The president was interested in developments, there is nothing more ," he added.
Meanwhile, the deputy of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Armend Zemaj, stated that they have heard about pressure on deputies of non-Serb minority communities in an attempt to secure the necessary votes for the constitution of the Assembly in the 54th attempt to be held at 10:00 PM.
"There is pressure on MPs, especially minority groups. We have heard this from our colleagues from non-Serb communities, who say that they are being pressured to cast additional votes based on the interests and demands they have presented. This does not contribute to either democracy or institutional stability," Zemaj said before entering the Assembly.
