Punitive measures against Kosovo, the government revolts Kurti: Why is there no

The government has responded to the EU, whose officials a day ago specified the punitive measures that can be taken against Kosovo for the situation in the north.

The executive of Kosovo has told Dukagjini television that it is difficult to justify how the EU takes negative measures towards Kosovo, which it has previously evaluated positively for its progress

The suspension of work on the Stabilization and Association Agreement, the suspension of financing of EU programs, the disapproval of projects from the Investment Fund in the Western Balkans, as well as the suspension of meetings at political levels.

These punitive measures were specified on Tuesday evening in Brussels as a warning to Kosovo for not taking the steps required by the EU to reduce tensions in the north.

But the Government of Kosovo has reacted to this statement by the General Director for enlargement at the European Commission, Jan Koopman.

In an answer to Dukagjini television on Wednesday, the spokesperson of the Executive, Pëparim Kryeziu, assessed any measure against Kosovo as unfair and unfair.

"It is difficult to justify how the European Union undertakes negative measures towards Kosovo, which in its latest report on the country it describes in the most positive light ever; as in the fight against crime and corruption, as in democratization, as in economic development, as well as in the advancement of the legal framework in accordance with the EU Acquis", said Kryeziu.

Kryeziu recalled Prime Minister Albin Kurti's five-point proposal for de-escalation of the situation, which, according to him, would preserve the principle of the rule of law and pave the way for new elections.

However, the Government criticizes the EU for not openly and decisively reprimanding Serbia after the attacks on local and international institutions.

During the discussions, most of the MEPs criticized the EU's approach. According to them, only Kosovo is being reprimanded and measures are being taken against it, while no concrete measures have been mentioned for Serbia.

The MEPs asked to specify the measures against the Serbian state as well, but neither Lajcak nor Koopman have responded to this request.
