One day before the constitutional deadline, the Kosovo Assembly convenes today in an extraordinary session for the President

The Acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, has announced that an extraordinary plenary session will be held today to discuss the election of the new president.

The session is expected to take place at 5:00 PM, while the constitutional deadline for electing the head of state ends on Tuesday, April 28.

In an attempt to reach an agreement, the Vetevendosje Movement has asked the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Democratic League of Kosovo to propose three consensual candidates. The PDK has rejected this request, while the LDK has put the name of former president Vjosa Osmani on the table, conditioning its support on securing 66 votes for her election in the first round.
