Osmani for 'Reuters': Terrorist aggression directed by Vucic

The President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani has commented on the attacks in the north of Kosovo in the village of Banjské in Zveçan, where the officer Afrim Bunjaku was killed and three others were injured.

In an interview for "Reuters", she said that "Kosovo is under attack". Osmani has accused Serbia and its president, Aleksandër Vucic, of the terrorist attack in Kosovo.

Osmani also said that Serbia still has territorial claims to Kosovo and is acting to fulfill a 'Crimea model' by creating tensions in northern Kosovo, where around 50,000 local Serbs still see Belgrade as their capital and reject rule from Pristina.

"What I would say to President Vucic is to stop messing with Kosovo. Kosovo will defend its freedom, independence and sovereignty at any cost. They are trying to implement a model of Crimea in the Republic of Kosovo, but we absolutely will not allow it to happen... We will protect every inch of the territory of Kosovo", said the President of Kosovo.

Russia invaded and annexed Ukraine's Crimea region in 2014, and Kosovo authorities fear that Serbia could secede from the northern part of Kosovo.

Osmani told Reuters that similar attacks could be repeated in the near future and asked the international community to do everything to prevent Serbia from supporting such groups.

"I am very worried that such attacks, even bigger ones, could happen in the future if Serbia is not punished, first of all, for this terrorist act of aggression ," she said.

Osmani also added that the talks between the two countries cannot continue as before.

"It is absolutely not as usual anymore. We have been victims of an aggression by Serbia and everyone should treat it as such, even in their approach to Serbia from now on" , concluded Osmani.
