Sociologist and political analyst from Pristina, Artan Muhaxhiri, has expressed that tensions are expected between Kosovo and Serbia, after the decision of Prime Minister Albin Kurti to open the bridge over the Iber River in the North.
Muhaxhiri made the comments in a link to Euronews Albania, where he said that internationals, including NATO and the head of the American CIA, have asked Kurti not to open the bridge, as it could lead to clashes.
According to him, the positions are "concreted", as Kurti insists on opening the bridge despite international warnings.
"The main problem is perspective, because the positions are cemented. Prime Minister Kurti says he will open the bridge, it is my right. The internationals tell him not to open the bridge, including KFOR, NATO, and maybe even the director of the CIA, because according to them, it could lead to an unnecessary conflict.
So it is a face-to-face confrontation and there are no indications that any party has the opportunity to make any compromises or back down. All our allies are saying don't open the bridge because it could have consequences for escalating the situation.
Every confrontation in Kosovo has brought problems for everyone. The Serb protest in the North starts tomorrow and it is not known when it will end. The idea is that there will be a big blockade and after it there will be many meetings in Brussels, etc.", said Muhaxhiri.
