A protest organized by the Collective for Feminist Thought and Action with the motto "there is no peace without the safety of women" has started in Pristina today.
The protest prompted by the cruel murder of 33-year-old Liridona Ademaj by order of her husband, Naim Murseli, on Wednesday, November 29, started with the cries of "freedom, equality, solidarity".
Protesters mentioned the names of women killed over the years in Kosovo, demanding justice for each of them.
"Down with the patriarchy" and "there is no peace without the liberation of women", were some of the other slogans in the protest.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti is expected to join the protest, while MPs and representatives of institutions were also seen present.
"A large number of Liridona Ademaj's family members are also present. They are wearing T-shirts with the photo of Liridona" , said the journalist in Kosovo.
On Sunday, Naim Murseli appeared before the court for the first time, together with Granit Plava and Kushtrim Kokalla, the other two defendants who are suspected of organizing the murder of his wife.
The Basic Court of Pristina ordered one month of detention for the three accused, since according to the judge of the preliminary procedure, "there are grounds and reasons for setting the measure of detention, because there is a well-founded suspicion that the defendants have committed criminal offenses".
Naim Murseli is charged with aggravated murder in collaboration, Granit Plava with aggravated murder and possession of weapons without a permit, while Kushtrim Kokalla is charged with an agreement to commit the criminal offense of aggravated murder.
