The growing role of Turkey in Kosovo has alarmed Serbia. The chairman of the Serbian Parliamentary Commission for Kosovo, Millovan Drecun, in an interview for Kurir, said that Turkey's behavior regarding the arming and training of KSF members, as well as the addition of soldiers to KFOR, shows that it will have a special role in the situation in Kosovo.
According to the Serbian official, Turkey is playing this role with the support of the US and the West.
"Remember that America has allowed Turkey to lead with the Bondsteel base. Now we see that the Turks have almost 800 soldiers, they will have their commander in NATO. Turkish instructors train KSF members to operate the "Bajraktar". Anti-tank systems, howitzers and mortars have now been sent. They have crews that are trained to operate helicopters", said Drecun.
According to the Serbian official, all of Kosovo already has what it lacked for a long time, which was air defense, which it is providing through "Bajraktar" drones.
According to him, all the behavior of Turkey shows that it is taking an important role in supporting Kosovo.
"Thirty people have been trained and this is not an insignificant story. What they lacked was air support, and now they have the "Bajraktarë" drones. Which means that Turkey cannot play such a role in armaments without the consent of America, which has the greatest influence on the creation of the state of Kosovo. The entire behavior of Turkey shows that it will have an important role in Kosovo", said the Serbian official with concern.
We remind you that the Kosovo Army has been reinforced with Bayraktar TB-2 drone purchased from Turkey this month.
The drones have already arrived and are part of the KSF arsenal.
"In two years of governance, we have increased the number of soldiers by over 80% and the budget for the army by over 100%. Kosovo is now even more secure than always proud!", said the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in his reaction.
Bayraktar TB2 është një mjet ajror luftarak pa pilot me qëndrueshmëri të gjatë në lartësi mesatare, i aftë për operacione fluturimi të kontrolluara nga distanca ose autonome.
Droni ka një gjatësi prej 6.5 metrash, ndërsa hapësira e krahëve shkon në 12 metra. Fluturimin e parë e ka kryer në vitin 2014, ndërsa është konfirmuar efikasiteti i lartë në luftime. Vlerësohet se çmimi për një dron Bayraktar TB2 të shkojë në 5 milionë dollarë.
Ndërsa qeveria e Kosovës nuk ka bërë të ditur ndonjë shifër për blerjen e tyre. Më pak se 500 dronë Bayraktar janë krijuar deri më tani, ndërsa edhe ushtria shqiptare ka blerë armën e fuqishme nga Turqia.
Edhe Serbia kishte bërë një porosi për blerjen e disa dronëve, por presidenti Aleksandër Vuçiç njoftoi prishjen e kontratës me Ankaranë, si shenjë proteste për armatimet e furnizuara për Forcën e Sigurisë së Kosovës.
