Today Kosovo celebrates the 16th anniversary of independence, and for this occasion tributes were held in the tower of the Jasharaj family, who sacrificed themselves for freedom.
Former KLA fighter Dritan Goxhaj broke down in tears in a TV studio, while a small boy spoke in a direct connection from the Jasharaj tower and said "Adem Jashari fought for us, we all Albanians love him".
A tearful Goxhaj said that it is a great feeling to see that the generation that was born in independent Kosovo, can feel the sacrifice of Jasharaj for freedom.
" It is exciting that the generation that was born in the last decade, manages to feel this sacrifice of Jasharaj. The sacrifice of Jasharja is the sacrifice of Kosovo, for freedom. This Independence has nothing to do with Jasharaj. He is part of the first groups trained in the Republic of Albania, after the violent actions of the Serbian army and police in Kosovo, after the declaration of Kosovo's independence on July 2, 1990 in Pristina and after the Kaçanik constitution.
LDK organized the first groups to train in the Republic of Albania, because Albania was the only UN country that recognized Kosovo's independence in 1991. At that time, the first armed forces began. These were the first nuclei that raised the armed spirit and said "freedom comes with war". Adem Jashari, together with his family, is a victim of this decision-making, an extraordinary sacrifice. Bernard Kouncher has said that if there was a Nobel Prize for this, it would undoubtedly go to this family ," said Goxhaj.
