The former mayor of the municipality of Pristina, Shpend Ahmeti, has commented on the tense situation in the north of Kosovo and on the actions of the western allies.
In an interview for "Abc News", Ahmeti said that President Biden's decision to extend the monitoring of the Balkans for another year also came as a result of the situation in the north of Kosovo.
He added that this was expected as it is clear throughout the world, according to him, that Kosovo is a second center of crisis after Ukraine.
" I think it is an expected decision. All over the world it is clear that the north of Kosovo is a second center of crisis after Ukraine.
No one wanted this. This is not just an issue between Serbia and Kosovo, but of a big table ", he said, as he emphasized that now the only guarantor for Kosovo's security in the future is the USA.
Ahmeti spoke about the statement of the US special envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, who said that there are leaders in the region who survive through crises.
According to him, Escobar had it for Kurt and Vučić, emphasizing that the president of Serbia is facing protests like never before, but the situation in the north is favoring him.
" I believe that he also had it for Kurti and Vučić. Let's not forget that Vucic is facing protests like never before. On the other hand, he comes out every day and talks about Kosovo and the violation of Serbian citizens. We are already helping him with the crisis in the north. It is expected that Vucic will announce his new movement, but there is also a risk that the northern Serbs will announce the Association unilaterally ", said Ahmeti.
