The special court in The Hague has upheld the measure to extend the detention of former President Hashim Thaçi and the former Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Kadri Veseli. 

According to these decisions, on September 25, 2023, the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor sent its submissions for the review of the measure of detention for Thaci and Veseli.

In the reasoning of the Court, it is said that the justification that Veseli and Thaçi can escape from justice is insufficient, however it is reported that the panel is convinced that there is a risk that they can hinder the progress of the judicial process and commit further crimes against those who are perceived as opponents of the KLA, including witnesses who have testified or those who can provide evidence in this case.
