Analyst Sadri Ramabaja commented on the meeting in Brussels between Kosovo and Serbia on the "Dinar" issue.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, he emphasized that the failure was foreseen since in Brussels Kosovo was presented as prepared to make the appropriate compromises, within the framework of the Central Bank regulation. According to him, the goal of the Serbian side was to make this meeting a failure.
" It seems that the insistence of Western diplomats on the issue of the dinar has more to do with the lack of an exit strategy introduced by the Borrel-Lajçak duo. The dinar is a sensitive issue and should not have been dealt with at these political and diplomatic levels. It is a state matter. A state either has fiscal independence or it doesn't, or the Independent Republic of Kosovo has been accepted by the representative states that insist that this issue be brought back, so in this plan there is a lack of an exit strategy.
The Brussels meeting presented the Kosovar side as prepared to make appropriate compromises, of course within the framework of the central bank regulation, while the Serbian side went there to make the meeting fail because it insisted on opening a branch of the savings bank and treat Kosovo as part of Serbia. At this point, failure was foreseen ," he said.
