The withdrawal of some policemen from municipal facilities in the North has begun, based on the agreement reached between Besnik Bislim and Miroslav Lajçak in Bratislava.
The news was confirmed by Veton Elshani, Deputy Director of Police for the northern region.
"After the acceptance of the Government's decision by the Police Management, the same is sent to the field for execution. The decision of the Government of Kosovo has started to be implemented", said Elshani.
The agreement reached in Bratislava foresees the departure of 25% of the Kosovo police stationed there when the mayors of the municipalities elected in the April 23 elections were sent.
For more than a month now, there has been tension in the North, as the local Serbs, who sometimes violently protested, opposed the Albanian mayors in the northern municipalities and the Kosovo policemen around.
