Ambassador of the United States of America Jeff Hovenier commented on Prime Minister Albin Kurti's visit to North Macedonia.
He answered questions about the reactions of the President of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, who said that Kurti promoted Greater Albania there.
Hovenier stated the position of the USA against Greater Albania.
"I think that all of us have seen a number of public statements about this visit and the events in North Macedonia related to the visit of Prime Minister Kurti. I don't know if it's appropriate for me to talk about the specifics of the visit.
But I have seen that in the public comments there is concern about the idea of Greater Albania, as something that was discussed in the context of this visit. I want to reiterate the position of the United States of America on this issue.
It is very important and I want you to read the American government's position on this matter, to make it clear that the United States of America does not support Greater Albania and we do not support Greater Serbia either.
The United States of America does not support the redrawing of state borders in the Balkan region. Any attempt to do so would be counterproductive and destabilizing. The US strongly supports the territorial integrity of all countries in the Western Balkans, including Kosovo," said Hovenier.
