The post of the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu
This morning, a woman was killed by a man in Peja, just 4 days after a woman was also killed by a man in Ferizaj. This is very heavy. It's shocking. It is a great pain. It is intolerable.
For this reason, today I have invited the Minister of Internal Affairs, the heads of the councils, the Chief Prosecutor and the Director of the Police of Kosovo to a meeting, as well as the meeting of the inter-ministerial group.
There is no other way but as institutions of the Republic of Kosovo to fight these phenomena without compromise.
Despite the dedication, the measures undertaken, the campaigns initiated with the aim of gender equality, murders against women continue.
Violators have often become murderers precisely because of the lack of adequate punishment by the relevant institutions.
Murders against women in the Republic of Kosovo have become a phenomenon that exceeds any concern. We cannot expect the emancipation of anyone until they become aware of the equality between men and women. No citizen is above anyone else, no one is anyone's property. Woman and man are equal. And as a state we will not tolerate any kind of violence by men against women.
