Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, upon returning from Brussels, immediately went to a military barracks located near the border with Kosovo.
He also issued a threat, emphasizing that the army is not the same as it was 10 years ago.
"Don't forget that we had good personnel in the units and when they were preparing for the possible protection of our people in Kosovo, in the special units we had over 90 percent response, and in Cobra 100 percent," he said.
Vučić emphasized that in the heated geopolitical and regional situation, which according to him is not easy, the personnel of the Serbian Armed Forces units is only increasing even after legal changes and pay.
"President Vučić emphasized the importance of equipping the army, adding that he will do his best to ensure that Serbia has around 70 or 80 thousand kamikaze drones in the coming years and that the production or purchase of weapons in Serbia is accelerating," reads the official statement of the Serbian Ministry of Defense.
Meanwhile in Brussels, leaders discussed Belgrade's progress on the path to EU membership.
EU leaders welcomed "the measures taken by Serbia to diversify its energy sources and routes and reduce dependence on Russia, which has proven unreliable time and time again."
“Europe has consistently shown solidarity with Serbia through significant investments in energy infrastructure and support for vulnerable families,” they added, underlining the EU’s full commitment to “seeing a democratic Serbia within the EU.”
Next week, the Western Balkans summit will be held in Brussels, which precedes the summit of European leaders.
