Less than 24 hours after the American ultimatum, today military movements were noticed on the Kosovo-Serbia border.
Aleksandër Vučić seems to have started to relax after the ultimatum he received yesterday from the White House. The Americans revealed that they have seen a significant increase in the military presence on the border with Kosovo, and yesterday it was the Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the US National Security Council, John Kirby, who demanded that Serbia urgently remove the army.
Less than 24 hours after the ultimatum, today military movements were noticed on the Kosovo-Serbia border. A military convoy has moved from Vranje towards Nis, near the town of Predejana.
The town of Predejan is located 300 kilometers south of Belgrade and about 100 kilometers from the nearest border crossing point between Serbia and Kosovo, Merdare.
The convoy of Serbian army vehicles was moving from the south to the north of the country around noon.
Serbia had deployed military troops in Vranje, near the border with Kosovo, after the armed attack in Banjska in Zveçan on Sunday, where the sergeant of the Kosovo Police, Afrim Bunjaku, and three attackers were killed.
The government of Kosovo, the USA and the EU have described the attack in Banjska as terrorist, while Serbia has denied involvement.
"We will monitor the large Serbian deployment along the border with Kosovo. We call on Serbia to withdraw its forces from the border and continue to reduce tensions," Kirby said during a conversation with reporters on September 29.
Kirby was asked if this buildup of military troops near the border is a signal that Serbia is preparing for a military invasion.
"We are looking at it, we are observing it. But I can't say the purpose now", he said. However, Kirby said the "enormity" of the massed bodies is destabilizing. / Pamphlet
