NATO's Assistant-Secretary General for Operations, Thomas Goffus, seems to have put a 'limit to what he said' to Albin Kurti. He held several meetings in Kosovo and Serbia these days, while in a statement it was stated that uncoordinated actions, especially in the north of Kosovo, could increase the risk of violence.

" During the past year, we have increased the number of troops in Kosovo, in order to unfortunately address a more challenging security environment and the re-emergence of tensions. This shows once again the quick commitment of NATO allies and partners to maintain security along Kosovo and the Balkans in general ," Goffus told RTK.

He said that the addition of military troops, necessary at the moment, is not a solution for a long-term peace in Kosovo. According to him, the solution is political. As he has given signals that he does not support the government's attempts to open the Ibri bridge.

" It is essential that both Prishtina and Belgrade be constructively involved in the EU-facilitated dialogue to resolve the remaining issues. We continue to call on all parties to implement the agreements reached without delay. As we have seen, sudden and uncoordinated actions, especially in the north of Kosovo, can increase the risk of violence, which threatens the security of all people in Kosovo, and endangers KFOR troops ," he said.

Guffus added that this aggravates the concern of NATO and partners for the stability of the region and Kosovo and the safety of its troops. He said that KFOR soldiers remain committed to their duties, especially in the north of Kosovo, with regular patrols and monitoring the situation on the ground.

" They are working non-stop to keep the situation calm, implementing the UN mandate. I have said this to everyone I have talked to, that it is important to have coordination with NATO on a number of issues including the Ibri bridge ," he said.
