From torn clothes to towel skirts, and now Balenciaga is bringing out the 'next ugliness'. The garbage bag-shaped bag is the new 'creation' of the fashion house, which has been surprising with not-so-beautiful and everyday things for years.
"Trash Pouch" was the item that came under the direction of Demna Gvasalia, who has always managed to be the topic of fashion discussions, with every touch for the "brands" he curates.
The much-discussed phenomenon touched the fashion catwalks with the Fall/Winter 2022 collection.
Unlike your average trash bag, at least this one from Balenciaga is made from calfskin leather, which gives it a shiny look and a luxurious feel. The bag comes in black, yellow, white, and blue, and the design allows it to taper at the top for carrying on your arm or casually slung over your shoulder.
The launch price of "only" $1,790 brought numerous reactions from critics and ordinary people alike, with those who saw it as an absurdity or an object of irony leading the way.
And although widely criticized, it turns out that some saw it as more than just a garbage bag, making it sell quickly and serve as a "hype-piece" for the brand.
'Trash Bag' is part of what is known as "trash couture", which challenges traditional concepts of fashion.
