Former US President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, are entering a 'new territory', that of television comedy! And not only that, but with them in this adventure is also the legend of American humor Larry David, the famous author and actor of "Curb Your Enthusiasm".
The trio is working on a limited comedy series to air on HBO, and it will focus on American history but with a sarcastic and unexpected twist, as only Larry David knows how.
“President and Mrs. Obama wanted to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and commemorate its unique history… but then Larry David called,” HBO’s official synopsis humorously reads.
The project will explore forgotten or overlooked characters from American history, presenting them through the lens of satire. And, according to HBO, these characters are so “inconsequential” that it’s better that history ignored them.
Barack Obama, always cautious and diplomatic, expressed himself ironically:
"Nothing I've experienced has prepared me for working with Larry David."
Although the series title and premiere date have not yet been revealed, the project is generating great excitement, especially due to the fact that the Obamas will be executive producers for the first time on a comedy with HBO, through their company Higher Ground Productions.
This unexpected collaboration between a presidential couple and a rebellious comedian promises a different kind of celebration of America's 250th anniversary – with laughter, sarcasm and plenty of surprises.
