Rihanna has left her fans puzzled and confused again after some comments she gave at an event for her brand "Fenty Beauty" in Barbados, where she also raised the possibility of a retirement from music. The popular singer said that music was what made her famous, but added that "God has other plans" for her future. These vague words fueled concerns that the much-anticipated ninth album may never be released, leaving her fans sad.
Rihanna hasn't released a new album since 2016, and her last music performance was during the 2023 Super Bowl show.
Meanwhile, big names in music such as Taylor Swift and Beyoncé have performed successful tours, increasing the desire of fans for a return of Rihanna to the stage.
Her cryptic comments sparked an immediate backlash on social media. Some fans expressed sadness and others support. "Rihanna said God has plans for her elsewhere... Looks like she's finally retired from music," wrote one user on X (Twitter). "No more new music from Rihanna," added another, with a broken heart emoji.
However, some fans supported Rihanna's decision to focus on other projects, such as her Fenty beauty brand.
"We must respect her choice. She is moving on to another chapter in her life, and rightfully so,” wrote one supporter.
Although such comments have sparked speculation, Rihanna has not made a clear statement about her retirement from music. Earlier this year, after a photo of her wearing an "I'm Retired" t-shirt, Rihanna clarified that the message had been misunderstood and that she was working on new music, but had decided to restart the project.
At the moment, Rihanna is dedicated to her businesses, but the question remains: Is it the end of her music career, or will she return to the stage one day?
