Invited to "Quo Vadis", the well-known actor Mehdi Malkaj narrated the difficulties and dramas he went through in his life, and one of them was the death of his mother at a young age.
Malkaj said that his mother left him when he was still 5 years old and that his father got married a few years later. Asked if they accepted the stepmother at first, Malkaj said that no one ate the baklava she had cooked.
Borakaj: Did your father get married soon?
Malkaj: I don't remember that, but I believe so. Somewhere from the fourth grade it was me.
Borakaj: Did you accept it?
Malkaj: At that time it was not acceptable or not. Aunty made that conversation, it was no longer discussed. But the stepmother made baklava, no one ate it.
Malkaj: I myself realized late what they were comforting me for. I had it for the second time that I die. Ben was very kind, for the incident that happened, to that little child, he introduced this joke: It's bad to have a child, it's bad not to have a child, it's bad to have a child because they kill him. Too bad you don't have children to be killed. Bad to have them here and bad outside, big drama for Albanian parents. The woman took me on the phone, "take it easy" - I told her, that I'm alive. Brother in Italy, brother in Greece, all on alert. They were very worried. They had taken him with tears. Stay calm, I told them, it hasn't come to me yet.
Borakaj: Did you read the comments?
Malkaj: No, because they were the same thing, 'living on your own'.
Borakaj: Did you know that they loved you a lot?
Malkaj: I understood that they loved me. Although they were tragic, the number of messages was great. Those who took me on the phone understood quickly, they told me 'hey, you ruined our lives, you died for us'.
Borakaj: We are in the last days of 2024, a message for Albanians for 2025?
Malkaj: I am very happy and very pleased to congratulate all the people. If we didn't have the applause of these people who clap, we would be nobody. I am greatly indebted to the public for having received so much applause. I can't pay off my debts, but I try to reduce them. I love you very much, I have a lot of love for you, you are all stars, bring light to your families, or as my grandmother used to say: The door was occupied by goodness.
