Renowned British actor Jude Law has undergone an impressive transformation to portray Vladimir Putin in a new film that had its world premiere this Friday at the Venice Film Festival.
The film is titled “The Kremlin Wizard” and is adapted from the novel of the same name by author Giuliano da Empoli, an international bestseller that sheds light on the mechanisms of power in Russia. At the center of the narrative is a fictional figure, Vadim Baranov, a dark Kremlin strategist and advisor, played by actor Paul Dano.
Baranov is inspired by a real-life character, Vladislav Surkov, a former advisor to Putin, considered the architect of the controlled political system in Russia and one of the most mysterious figures of the last decade.
The film unfolds Vladimir Putin's rise to absolute power and how he, through manipulation and strategy, builds a system that rules on fear and total control.
Jude Law's role as Putin has attracted great attention for his physical resemblance, but also for his complex interpretation of a figure who continues to polarize global opinion.
