Kanye West, also known as Ye, returned to the stage in front of a packed stadium in Shanghai, but not everything went as expected. The concert, held on July 12 at a 70,000-seat arena, ended amid controversy, criticism and calls for ticket refunds.
Despite the torrential rain and the 45-minute delay due to technical problems, fans began to openly express their frustration. Videos were shared on social media accusing Ye of lip-syncing (singing with a recording) and a total lack of energy on stage. According to many participants, the microphone was almost inaudible throughout the performance.
Ticket prices ranged from 980 to 2,680 yuan (around £102–£278), and this was yet another reason why many fans erupted in discontent, chanting in chorus for refunds.
But the most controversial point? In the final part of the show, Kanye disappeared from the stage for more than 20 minutes, while his songs continued to play in the background, without any explanation.
