The animated series "The Simpsons" has once again returned to the spotlight, after viewers noticed a disturbing detail in an episode broadcast a quarter of a century ago.
It's about the season 12 episode, "The Computer Wore Menace Shoes" (2000), where Homer Simpson creates a website to spread rumors and conspiracy theories under the pseudonym ZX. Among his "discoveries", a strange message appears that today takes on a completely different meaning.
In one of the scenes, the announcement reads on the screen:
"Attention: Some madmen on some island secretly rule the world."
This fragment has sparked speculation on social media, with many users linking it to the private island in the US Virgin Islands, which years later would become known as the property of convicted sex offender financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Coincidence or warning?
Although the episode was filmed many years before the Epstein scandal came to light, some in the public believe that this detail is not just a random joke. Comments on the network are numerous:
"I was speechless after watching the episode again"
"This is not a series, it's a documentary"
"They knew more than we thought"
The debate has deepened further after claims on social media that the series' creator, Matt Groening, allegedly traveled on one of Epstein's private jets, a claim that has not been officially confirmed, but has added to the mystery surrounding the case.
The Simpsons and their "predictions"
This isn't the first time the series has been accused of "predicting" real-life events, from politics to technology to global scandals. However, it remains unclear whether this is clever satire, eerie coincidence, or simply a belated interpretation by the audience.
One thing is certain: even after decades, The Simpsons continues to raise questions that disturb, and perhaps, leave more to be implied than to be stated outright.
