In Italy, one in three boys have sex, but only virtually. This is according to a recent survey conducted by the Italian Society of Andrology (SIA), which studied the changes in the sexual habits of Gen Z after the pandemic.
"There is a decline and a transformation of desire. On the one hand, there is an indiscriminate use of online pornography, which has increased during the pandemic, which leads to the habit of stimulating stimuli," says Marco Rossi, psychiatrist.
"On the other hand, the impulses are oriented towards masturbation. Many boys practice sex, but outside certain contexts they behave as if they were asexual," continues the psychiatrist.
The pandemic has affected the process of dematerialization of reality. Among the most obvious consequences was a reduction in social interactions and physical contact.
According to the psychiatrist, children today, instead of talking on the phone, in what can be considered a more "intimate" contact, prefer to exchange messages.
Social closure and disinterest in interpersonal, or even sexual, relationships has led and continues to lead to forms of depression.
