Nguyễn Thúc Thùy Tiên, the winner of Miss Grand International 2021, has been arrested in Vietnam on charges of consumer fraud in connection with the promotion of a fake dietary fiber supplement.
According to Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security, Thùy Tiên is under investigation for consumer fraud after promoting the product "Kera Supergreens Gummies" on social media. The supplement was advertised as high in fiber, but laboratory tests showed that it contained only 16 mg of fiber per unit, far less than the claimed 200 mg.
Investigations revealed that Thùy Tiên had a 30% share in the profits of the product business, which was a joint venture with other social media influencers.
Authorities have expanded their investigations and have also arrested four other people involved in the production and advertising of this fake supplement.
The event has caused a widespread reaction in public opinion and raised questions about the responsibility of public figures in promoting products.
