King Charles III shared a photo with his sons Prince William and Prince Harry on Father's Day. "To fathers everywhere, we wish you a special day today," the monarch wrote in an Instagram post on Sunday.
The post also included photos of Charles with his father, the late Prince Philip, and Queen Camilla with her late father, Bruce Shand.
However, the photo of the royal head with his sons gained attention as it was taken on August 16, 1997 - around two weeks before the boys' mother, Princess Diana, died.
Harry and William were on holiday with their father at Balmoral Castle in Scotland at the time. They were due to meet their mother on August 31 - the day she died in a car crash alongside Dodi Fayed in Paris.
The symbolic photo comes after a seemingly difficult time between Charles and his youngest son. In Harry's autobiography, Spare, the Duke of Sussex accused his father of being distant with him at times. The book also contained numerous stories about Harry's upbringing, including Charles and his "sadistic" jokes about him not being his "real" father.
