An eyewitness reported to Rolling Stone that the rapper was "extremely angry" and screaming during the incident at Howard University in the late 1980s.

The source chose to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of what happened. The witness detailed that Combs used the belt to hit his girlfriend as she then began to cry.

"She was trying to defend herself and was crying. And we said to him: “Get away from her. We screamed for him."
