A 36-year-old woman suffered a serious accident just by opening her mouth in a fit of sleep. Hayley Black, a mother of two, shared the terrifying experience on her TikTok account.
The Milton Keynes woman said she 'instinctively' opened her mouth after her newborn baby, Amelia, did the same. Hayley then experienced 'terrible pain' and was unable to understand what was happening to her.
"I felt an immediate jolt that went down half my body and I jumped up in shock," the 36-year-old said on TikTok.
At the time of the incident, her husband was also with her, and she immediately asked him to call an ambulance. She adds that her partner thought she was panicking for no reason.
Meanwhile, once she arrived at the hospital, scans revealed nothing worrisome, leaving medical staff baffled by the mother-of-two's ongoing symptoms.
"I was screaming in pain all night. But then the doctors did some tests and said it was worse than they thought. I had broken my neck badly," the 36-year-old revealed.
And the story doesn't end there, as Black's mother received the bitter news that there was a 50/50 chance that her daughter would not survive the emergency surgery and if she recovered from the delicate procedure, the same chances were given as to whether she would ever walk again.
But thankfully, the emergency surgery was successful. The recovery has been difficult. Hayley Black had to learn to walk again and was confined to a wheelchair for months.
