Meta will soon use what people type to artificial intelligence "chatbots" to sell them things.
The company said that users who interact with Meta AI will soon be in the spotlight for more personalized ads. Users will see notifications of the change next week, but the ads will start appearing starting December 16.
Meta already targets users with ads based on their posts. The data allows Meta to guide users on what to buy.
The company will also use data from artificial intelligence to help determine what content from other users someone will see on their page.
Meta explained that, for example, if a user talks to the chatbot about hiking, it will know that they are interested in the sport and will offer them such content.
