The record temperature of 56.67 degrees Celsius has been recorded this summer since 1913 in 'Death Valley', in eastern California. This has caused some curious tourists to flock there to feel the heat compared to a "hair dryer".
The National Weather Service in the U.S., like elsewhere, has issued weather warnings urging people to exercise "extreme levels of caution," but that hasn't stopped die-hard tourists from descending in significant numbers on eastern California's Death Valley.
Park ranger Giovanna Ponce said: "We have a lot of visitors who want to take pictures with the thermometer showing the extreme temperature, they want to really feel what this temperature means."
