Thomas Strakosha is confirming himself as one of AEK's strongest points this season, having one of the best seasons of his career. The Albanian goalkeeper has become an undisputed starter in goal, with consistent performances both in the championship and in European competitions.
One of the most prominent elements of his season has been the penalties he saves on the road. Strakosha has saved three penalty kicks, against Kifisia, Panathinaikos and PAOK, directly influencing the team’s results. In the last match at the “Toumba” stadium against PAOK, he saved the penalty taken by Giorgos Giakoumakis, keeping the team in the game at a crucial moment of the match.
In total, the red and black goalkeeper has kept 17 clean sheets in 33 appearances in all competitions. He has been on the pitch for around 3,000 minutes this season, which proves his important role in AEK's formation.
According to statistics, Strakosha's average goals conceded is lower than expected, reflecting the effectiveness and security he has provided in goal. His good form has also been supported by the stability of the team, as well as the continuous work with the goalkeeping coach.
With these performances, Strakosha is confirming a strong return to the top level, being one of AEK's main protagonists this season.
