A story worthy of a movie, not an ordinary movie, but for "Oscar". In Italy, a rare confession was published today by Damiano Tomazi, the famous former football player of Rome, currently involved in politics, as he holds the post of Mayor of Verona. He recounted an extraordinary story of how a Roma fan survived the infamous terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in the US 23 years ago.
This fan worked at the towers, but on the day the tragedy happened, exactly 23 years ago, the first match of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, between Rome and Real Madrid, was taking place. He had asked to take leave from work that day, precisely to follow this challenge, since he was a Roma fan. According to what Tommasi pointed out, the managers had refused the permission requested by the fan, but he still refused to go to work that day anyway. All his colleagues died that day from the terrorist attack, while he escaped thanks to….a football team.
