
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has imposed a sanction of six home games without fans, in addition to financial penalties, on Trabzonspor, for violence by the team's fans towards Fenerbahçe players after the March 17 match.
During the match played at the "Papara Park" stadium in Trabzon, which Fenerbahçe won 2-3, local fans threw plastic bottles at the visiting team and after the match, many of them entered the field.
The Fenerbahçe players responded to the violence with violence and many of them were rescued by the security forces, who escorted them to the dressing room.
The incident caused much controversy and the federation has now ordered Trabzonspor to play six home games without fans, in addition to a fine of three million lira (nearly €90,000).
The Turkish Football Federation also fined three Fenerbahce players and two technical staff after they clashed with fans who entered the pitch.
